The Snowbird Season

Fall departures from Wisconsin peak in late October and November, with the Florida Gulf Coast, Phoenix and the Rio Grande Valley the most common destinations. Spring returns run late March through early May. Because so many vehicles move in the same direction at the same time, carrier space tightens and prices climb as the season goes on. Booking two to four weeks ahead gets you the best rate and your preferred dates.

The return trip is often cheaper than the trip down, because carriers that hauled a full load south need vehicles to bring back north. If your dates are flexible, tell us and we will find the best price in your window.

Snowbird Shipping Tips

  • Book 2–4 weeks ahead in October and March
  • Give a 3–5 day pickup window for the best price
  • Leave a quarter tank of gas; less weight, and enough to load and unload
  • Remove toll transponders and garage openers
  • Have a neighbor, property manager or family member available at the destination if you are not there yet
  • Consider enclosed for a new or collector vehicle crossing winter roads
FAQ

Common Questions

When should I book my snowbird shipment?

Two to four weeks ahead. Fall and spring are the busiest seasons on the road and the earliest bookings get the best price.

Can someone else receive the car in Florida?

Yes. Anyone over 18 you authorize can meet the driver, inspect the vehicle and sign for it.

Is the return trip cheaper?

Often, yes. Carriers need loads coming north in spring. Flexible dates help.

Do you ship golf carts or a second vehicle?

Yes. Tell us at booking and we price it with your car; two vehicles on the same truck usually cost less per vehicle.
